This blog is intended to encourage others on their journey into their creative "artscape". I have enjoyed many years as an artist learner, creator, and teacher. Life is inspiring, and I want to share the vantage point that I have been fortunate enough to view life from. I want to move a smidge over, and invite you to sit right next to me, and enjoy a 360 degree view of my "artscape". Join me in discovering and uncovering the creative soul that we all possess.

This student told me he was building a barn and painting it brown. He was using small brown wood pieces to "paint".

Andy Warhol silk screens. When you can't do real silk screening, highlighters over photocopies will have to do.

Playscapes

Did you know that getting outside in nature is extremely important to your creativity at any age? So is exercise...

Just ran across this cool blog about playscapes. Let the children play on!

Making a book

Isn't it cute how kids stand when they are drawing? Someday I am going to draw all the different ways that I see them standing. This splits style is a pretty popular stance.
By the way, they are allowed to get chairs if they want them-
most don't want them, except Kindergarten; which I find so weird that they want a chair- but they don't sit in them, ha ha
I'm trying out book publishing. We'll see how it goes. I have to have it done super fast. Today was the first day. Students drew with pencil, then colored with markers. They could draw whatever they chose.

Isn't it great when you catch students totally engrossed in work they chose for themselves! At the study studio there was a small group of boys reading about Leonardo da Vinci and Mona Lisa- and I didn't even tell them to! They just wanted to! Yes! One of those moments you live for...

Some of the classes "earned" cotton for their snow scenes. Classes can earn special materials by great behavior. They have to be attentive when I am talking, productive during the studio time of class, and clean up within 1 min 30 sec! I am rooting for them to earn lots of "extras". Today one class earned the materials to make their own clay- very exciting!

Tinting Analogous colors
